about
This song was inspired by a news article about a telescope of the same name specifically designed to find a new home for the human race.
It is also inspired by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and The Beatles. A sort of love letter to the bands that made me pick up music again.
Hope you enjoy!
lyrics
Speculoos
Habitat
Only home dying
Earth is toast
Temperature
falling/rising
Speculoos
Only hope
Or we get the rope
Deep cuts in terrestrial crust
Find a home
Cause where
Outta space
Outta time
Outta air
Outta ideas
Speculoos
The Pendulum is slowing
Out of time
Outer space is calling
Belly up
All the fish are boiling
looking up
For some planetary calling
Speculoos
Adios
Packing up
Bring the seeds
Bring the brains
Bring your friends
The search begins
For a new life
Search it up
The Search goes
On and on and on and on and on
Buildings fall
Mountains fall
Statues fall
No winter or fall
Families fall
Markets fall
Appetites fall
No summer or fall
Kittens fall
Defenses fall
Missiles fall
Internet falls
Crust it falls
Mantle falls
Earths core falls
Everything falls
Everything
Maybe you should go back to bed
It’s still a few parsecs ahead
I’ll wake you when my wires touch my metal toes
Someone has to stay up for us
When new Earth appears I'll just be rust
Even if the atmosphere is favorable
To
Speculoos driving us thru outer space
Speculoos not enough to take your place
Use this time to go back to school
For 1000s of years we lived like fools
Then the crust broke open under our 10 toes
Promise they’ll be something to keep
And not just another sad repeat
Cultivate the land like it’s the last you’ll know
Speculoos driving us to our new place
Speculoos begging us to leave no trace
Because we’re already dead
Because we smell like the end
This place is nice on its own
Let’s not fuck it up again
You got to bring one friend
And now it fucks with your head
Wonder how you’ll go on
Keeping the good wolf fed
New earth is so damn weird
The flowers here have ears
The rocks can move on their own
Maybe we leave them alone
